Sheila Soyster

Sheila Soyster, an artist and art teacher, is a native of the Point Pleasant area of New Jersey. She graduated from Millersville University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education, and received a Masters degree in Fine Arts Education from Kean University. Sheila teaches art and art history in Point Pleasant Borough High School and is the Artistic Director for their performing arts productions. She is also an adjunct art professor at Ocean County College.

Sheila works in a variety of artistic media, including watercolor, acrylics, oils, pen and ink, and calligraphy. She is recognized for her attention to detail and for her blending of pigments to capture the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere. Her work, rendered in a realistic style, often focuses on the ever-changing vistas of the Jersey Shore.

Sheila is a member of the Ocean County Artists’ Guild, the Manasquan River Group of Artists and the Laurelton Arts Society. Her paintings, drawings and calligraphy can be seen at local art exhibitions and retail establishments. Sheila’s artwork can also be found on several murals in the Point Pleasant, NJ area, as well as in books and magazines about the Jersey Shore.
